Michele took Levi and myself for a special lunch date in Melba at The Langham.
Five star prices at a five star hotel. I’d never, ever pay $75 for lunch per head but this was a once off.
We’ve both made headway financially and career-wise this year so it’s mostly an opportunity to go out on a date and throw money at an expensive restaurant (which we haven’t done in many, many years).
The family – like any young family starting up from scratch – has seen a few years of ups and downs. It has been exceedingly difficult for Michele and I as we’ve emigrated from Singapore, so having no family for support is a constant challenge.
Looking back, we wouldn’t have it any other way. Australia is a country of immigrants, and the successful ones are those who make the most of a new country with their bare hands. Michele and I want to be part of those ‘successful ones’.

Hello and thank you for your feedback on our prices for lunch at our Melba Restaurant. I’ve forwarded your concerns to our managers. We understand that our prices don’t suit everyone. Although we do believe with our individual chefs at each cooking station offering guests their individual dishes that it offers a unique experience. We do appreciate your feedback and do hope that your wife and child still enjoy your experience with us.
Your pictures were delightful and I hope your son enjoyed the day also, and perhaps our Chocolate fountain?
Once again thank you for your feedback and you can count on the Langham, to indulge your taste buds.

Hi Evan,
thank you for your kind words. The price was certainly not a factor for us that day as we were celebrating as a young family. I’d daresay though, the price may be a little prohibitive for others.
We sampled a little bit of everything that day and unfortunately the little boy did not consume much chocolate as he was bloated with vegetable and fruits!
I’ve actually told my best mate about your response and he’s keen to see what the fuss is all about. We’ll be popping in together in a couple of week’s time.
Have a nice day!
