The Marching Jester Returns

Posted on April 14, 2009

Hello,  I hope you are all well.

Coming back from a month-long honeymoon sure takes some getting used to. We arrived in the wee hours of Tuesday morning last week and have spent the last seven days acclimatising to Mr Reality. Before, it was wedding prep work, putting money aside for the wedding and fussing over the smallest details.

Now, it’s mortgage, bills, groceries and wondering what to cook for dinner over the week!

Then again, Mr Reality has always been at the back of our heads. How else did we survive the last year then?

It’s different now, coming home after a whirlwind month that saw us commemorate our four-and-a-half years of romance with a beautiful courtyard wedding, an exciting holiday in New Zealand and a trip to Singapore to visit our friends and relatives.

Most importantly, our trip to Singapore was all about family. Michele and me both know that with this wedding, our lives truly and surely belong to each other in Melbourne. If there was any doubt at all – not that there was any to begin with – about our commitment to each other in a country we’ve long called home, the wedding sealed the deal.

As you spend more time away from the people who matter, you start thinking about past memories. Sad, happy, memorable, under the carpet or just plain selfish moments, you do think about them. After all, they’re your family for a reason.

But now, it’s a big reality check for us. The biggest and most expensive day of our lives is well and truly gone. Now all we have to look forward to is a quiet life together. With Toby *woof!*, our close friends and families in Melbourne, and of course, you readers.
